As we have expanded the scope of the film to include institutional changes in addressing veteran welfare and behavioral health, we have begun to focus on the Comprehensive Soldier Fitness (CSF) program recently instituted by the US Army. Former US Army Chief of Staff (2007-2011) and former Commanding General of the Multi-National Force in Iraq (2004-2007), target=”_blank”>General George W. Casey, Jr., spearheaded the establishment of the CSF program as part of a broader attempt to “change military culture” from within, especially regarding the stigma against Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). General Casey agreed to speak on camera for our film, and Beatrice and Margaret visited the National Defense University to interview him. General Casey also spoke about his own military career, and about his father, target=”_blank”>General George W. Casey Sr., who was killed in Vietnam on July 7, 1970.
